Hotteok
Hotteok is very delicious, especially in the winter. But be careful of the hot burning filing inside when you eat it straight off the stove!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder
- 2 tbsp chopped nuts
DIRECTIONS
Combine lukewarm water, sugar, and yeast together in a large bowl.
Add salt, oil, and flour in and mix well.
Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap and leave it at room temperature for 1 hour. (You can also leave it in your oven if your kitchen is too cold.)
Take it out and mix one more time. Leave it for an additional 30 minutes.
In a separate bowl, mix sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts together.
Lightly flour the cutting board and take the batter out. Separate into 8 balls.
Flatten the ball and scoop in the filling. Shape it back into a ball and make sure it's close.
Fill a pan with 3 tbsp of oil and place the ball in. When the bottom is a bit golden, flip it over and use a spatula to press the ball down flat.
Flip the pancakes a few times until golden. Serve and Enjoy!
