Hotteok

Hotteok is very delicious, especially in the winter. But be careful of the hot burning filing inside when you eat it straight off the stove!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 tbsp chopped nuts

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine lukewarm water, sugar, and yeast together in a large bowl.

  2. Add salt, oil, and flour in and mix well.

  3. Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap and leave it at room temperature for 1 hour. (You can also leave it in your oven if your kitchen is too cold.)

  4. Take it out and mix one more time. Leave it for an additional 30 minutes.

  5. In a separate bowl, mix sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts together.

  6. Lightly flour the cutting board and take the batter out. Separate into 8 balls.

  7. Flatten the ball and scoop in the filling. Shape it back into a ball and make sure it's close.

  8. Fill a pan with 3 tbsp of oil and place the ball in. When the bottom is a bit golden, flip it over and use a spatula to press the ball down flat.

  9. Flip the pancakes a few times until golden. Serve and Enjoy!
